Linke Slams Kubicki as ‘Last Nail in FDP Coffin’ Over Conservative Leadership Choice

Die Linke is heavily criticizing the election of Wolfgang Kubicki as the chairman of the FDP. In an interview with the “Rheinische Post” party leader Ines Schwerdtner stated that Kubicki represents the right-wing, extreme segment of the FDP, dismissing his attempts at distancing themselves as mere empty promises. Schwerdtner argued that what Germany currently lacks is yet another market-radically oriented party that engages in competition with the AfD based on base instincts. She concluded forcefully that Kubicki is the “last nail in the coffin” of the FDP. Kubicki himself was elected chairman at the FDP party conference on Saturday, securing 59 percent of the votes. In his speech at the event, he explicitly ruled out any cooperation between the FDP and the AfD.
