At the conclusion of the cabinet roundtable held at Schloss Neuhardenberg, CDU leader Friedrich Merz championed a vision for Germany’s future. “We discussed the Germany of tomorrow,” the Chancellor said, emphasizing that this future outlook is optimistic and confident. He stressed the urgent need to move away from a “climate of dissatisfaction and frustration” and “collectively shake off the widespread discontent that has long paralyzed our country.”
Merz noted that over the preceding two days, he had gathered “impressive examples” from various ministries and corporations. These examples spanned a wide range of topics, including AI, drone technology, housing construction, healthcare, and crucial issues related to national security and international trade relations. According to Merz, there are “everywhere encouraging, indeed enthusiastic signs of revival, innovation, and optimism.”
He highlighted Artificial Intelligence as a particularly significant factor, calling it “a catalyst for the rise of modern Germany.” Beyond discussions about work, value creation, and the future, Merz insisted that the conversation extended to ensuring “sovereignty for our society, for our way of life, and not least for our security.”
