Daniel Günther, the Minister-President of Schleswig-Holstein and a CDU member, praised the efforts of the German business community to strengthen democracy. Speaking to Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland regarding the establishment of the “Business for an Open-Minded Germany” association in Berlin, Günther stated that businesses publicly taking a stand constitutes a powerful and important signal. This national association, which currently includes over 2,500 companies, aims to motivate other entities to clearly define their positions.
In Schleswig-Holstein, there is already the similar organization, “Business for an Open-Minded North,” for which Günther acts as patron.
According to Günther, the founding of these associations demonstrates that the democratic center of society is unified, making it unequivocally clear that there is no place for right-wing extremism. Moreover, he emphasized that democracy thrives when people take responsibility-not just quietly, but visibly.
The Minister-President noted that the local Schleswig-Holstein group illustrates the strength of such alliances, adding it is even more crucial that this movement expands nationwide. He concluded by wishing the initiative success, arguing that the more people and companies stand for openness, respect, and democracy, the stronger the country will become.
