At least three people were killed and 21 others were injured following an explosion at an Italian restaurant in Moscow, according to official authorities. The device detonated around 8:00 p.m. local time (7:00 p.m. German time) on Kudrinskaya Place, near the city center, which was reported to be a homemade explosive.
The National Anti-Terror Committee (NAK) stated that a woman, who is believed to have been carrying the explosive, attempted to enter the restaurant but was stopped by a security guard. The resulting blast killed the woman, the security guard, and one other restaurant patron. The restaurant, located within one of Moscow’s prominent Stalinist skyscrapers, was hosting a private celebration at the time of the incident.
