In the third matchday of the 2. Bundesliga, 1. FC Nürnberg defeated Arminia Bielefeld with a score of 4-1.
The Nürnburgers took the lead in the 11th minute through Mohamed Ali Zoma. After winning the ball in their own half, Finn Ole Becker set Zoma on a run down the left flank. Zoma managed to shake off Bielefeld forward Monju Thaddäus Momuluh before using a body feint to beat defender Maximilian Großer in the penalty area. He then slotted the ball from 13 meters into the top right corner.
Tim Janisch doubled the lead for the hosts in the 22nd minute. Nürnburgers Zoma and Becker moved the ball along the left sideline until reaching the corner flag. Becker then spotted Janisch, who was clear in the far post and smashed the ball directly into the top corner.
Adam Markhiev extended the lead to 3-0 in the 38th minute. Following a central pass, Markhiev struck from approximately 25 meters out. Bielefeld defender Stefano Russo inadvertently deflected the shot with his head, and it landed in the net.
In the 67th minute, Markhiev scored his brace, making the score 4-0. After regaining possession, Nürnberg quickly transitioned forward with precision. Markhiev fed the ball from the center to his teammate Zoma on the right flank. Zoma tried to deliver a delicate chip to the advancing Piet Scobel, but a defender intervened, sending the ball about 22 meters out into Markhiev’s path. Markhiev calmly drilled the ball flat into the bottom left corner.
Marius Wörl finally scored the consolation goal for Bielefeld in the 76th minute. After Nürnberg players Javier Fernandez and Kristian Mandic played the ball loosely between them, Wörl intercepted it. He then noticed Nürnberg goalkeeper Reichert was positioned too far out, allowing him to fire a long-range shot (a lob) from 40 meters, securing the 4-1 final result.
Thanks to the victory, Nürnberg currently sits at the top of the league table, while Bielefeld drops to 8th place.
