The federal government has been hesitant to make a direct accusation until now, although Friedrich Merz recently announced that the investigation was close to concluding. Meanwhile, both Federal Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt (CSU) and Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul (CDU) plan to make public statements regarding the case later that day on Tuesday. Minister Wadephul will interrupt a business trip to attend the press briefing, while Chancellor Friedrich Merz (CDU) is reportedly not participating.
