Schulze Denies Voting Affidavit Authorship Amid Resignation Demands

The acting Minister President of Saxony-Anhalt and leader of the CDU parliamentary faction, Sven Schulze, denies that he created a sworn declaration regarding voting behavior during the election for the State Parliament President. Speaking to Die Welt, Schulze stated that, concerning the declaration, “that does not come from me or the faction leadership.”

Previously, Alexander Räuscher, a CDU politician and former State Parliament member in Saxony-Anhalt, had demanded Schulze’s resignation. Räuscher told Die Welt that if it were true that a sworn affidavit was presented to the CDU deputies regarding their voting behavior during the election of the State Parliament President, then this would be grounds for the faction chairman and acting Minister President, Sven Schulze, to step down.

Räuscher further commented that demanding such a declaration demonstrated an absurd understanding of democracy, insulted their values, and trampled on the rights of the deputies. He stated, “This is absolutely unacceptable. We need a personnel reset at the top so that we can clear our minds and become fully capable of taking action again.”
