Seyran Ates Slams Eralp and Greens, Warning Against Tolerance of Extremist Influences

Seyran Ates, an Islam critic, has voiced significant criticism against Elif Eralp, the candidate for Mayor of Berlin from the Die Linke party. Her comments followed a recent report by “Spiegel” concerning Eralp’s alleged fears regarding potential terrorists and sympathizers.

In statements given to the “Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland,” Ates asserted that while a governing mayor is naturally entitled to feel fear, she must never allow herself to be intimidated. With nearly two decades of personal protection and deep experience regarding threats to herself and her family, the Islam critic emphasized the gravity of security advice. However, she warned that apprehension should never result in political structures dedicated to extremism being spared, concealed, or insufficiently combated.

Furthermore, Ates pointed to the political maneuvering of certain members within Die Linke. She alleged that segments of the party had deliberately sought out, courted, and mobilized specific migrant-Islamic circles as a voter base. Consequently, she concluded that any politician who wins an election by engaging with this particular clientel would not be surprised if that group subsequently begins demanding and expecting political influence in return.
