SPD Welcomes Bundesbank’s Role in Implementing Capital Pension Scheme

Frauke Heiligenstadt, the SPD parliamentary group’s spokesperson for fiscal policy, welcomed the German central bank’s readiness to manage the assets for the planned capital pension. Speaking to the news portal T-Online, Heiligenstadt stated that the Bundesbank is the ideal partner for implementing the reform. She highlighted the institution’s experience, its confidence among the government and the public, and its infrastructure necessary for a speedy launch. According to Heiligenstadt, the coalition’s plan-which includes the capital pension, reformed private pension provision, and the early retirement scheme-broadens retirement security and enables all citizens to benefit from the positive developments in the capital market. Previously, Bundesbank Vice President Sabine Mauderer had indicated in the “Tagesspiegel” that the central bank was willing to manage the capital pension.
