Syria Accuses Israel of Aggression Following Attack on Naval Airbase

Syria accused Israel of launching an attack on an air base in the northwestern part of the country, dismissing the action as “unjustified aggression,” according to the Syrian Foreign Ministry.

Reports indicate that the Israeli airstrikes targeted the military airfield Abu Duhur in the Idlib province. In response, Syria called upon the international community and the United Nations Security Council to adopt a decisive stance against what it views as repeated violations of its sovereignty by Israel.

Adding to the concern, Tom Barrack, the US Special Envoy for Syria and Iraq, also attributed responsibility for the air strikes on the Abu Duhur military airport to Israel. Barrack described the attacks as an “unnecessary escalation” that does not contribute to regional stability. In a statement posted on X, Barrack voiced the United States’ profound concern over the attack, adding that Washington encourages all involved parties to prioritize dialogue regarding any future military incidents.
