Three people died in a serious traffic accident on Monday morning in Lower Saxony on the L 282, between Lachtehausen and Lachendorf, according to the Celle Police Station. Preliminary findings suggest that at approximately 11:10 a.m., a 44-year-old female driver drifted into the oncoming lane due to an unexplained cause. A truck driver approaching from the opposite direction was unable to prevent a head-on collision, despite attempting to swerve. The woman and her two 18-year-old companions succumbed to their severe injuries at the scene. The 50-year-old truck driver sustained minor injuries. Numerous rescue units from the fire department were deployed. The L 282 was fully blocked between Lachtehausen and the Celler Straße/Garßener Straße roundabout for recovery efforts, and traffic was diverted. The closure remained in effect until the afternoon. The property damage is estimated to be around 55,000 euros, and the investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing.
