According to U.S. President Donald Trump, an alleged agreement between the United States and Iran has been finalized. On Sunday, the 80th birthday, Trump announced on his platform, “Truth Social,” that “The Deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran is now complete.”
However, the precise nature of this achievement remains unclear, as it is not explicitly stated whether a formal agreement has been signed. Trump elaborated on the announcement, stating that he authorized the fee-free opening of the Strait of Hormuz and the immediate lifting of the U.S. naval blockade. He called on global vessels to “start your engines” and “let the oil flow.”
This comes after Trump had announced dozens of times that a deal with Iran was imminent, while Tehran had consistently responded with caution. Curiously, Iranian state media also reported that a “peace agreement” had been reached, referencing a breakthrough involving Pakistan, which Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had subsequently mentioned on social media.
