US Stocks Rally Amid Mixed Signals, Oil Prices Surge Sharply

US stock markets advanced on Tuesday. By the close of trading in New York, the Dow stood at 52,225 points, marking a gain of 0.7 percent compared to the previous day. Earlier in the session, the broader S&P 500 had climbed 0.9 percent, reaching roughly 7,509 points, while the tech-focused Nasdaq 100 reached approximately 29,155 points, up 1.9 percent.

Andreas Lipkow, Chief Market Analyst at CMC Markets, commented on the market’s dual pressures, stating, “The market is torn between the Middle East conflict and the US earnings season.” He noted that “both aspects are unpredictable and carry a high potential for both surprises and disappointment. The AI euphoria has led to very high valuations among many US companies.” Lipkow added that this week, companies such as Alphabet, Intel, IBM, and ServiceNow will need to demonstrate whether these valuations are justified or if investors face a sudden correction.

In foreign exchange, the common European currency was somewhat weaker Tuesday evening. The Euro cost $1.1403, meaning the dollar could be obtained for 0.8770 Euros.

In commodity markets, the price of gold saw a significant increase, climbing 2.0 percent to $4,085 per fine ounce in the evening. This equates to €115.19 per gram. Meanwhile, oil prices rose sharply. At around 10 PM Central European Time on Tuesday, a barrel of North Sea Brent crude cost $91.48, representing a 2.5 percent increase from the previous day’s closing price.
