Three fatalities and one injury resulted from a serious traffic accident on the A6 motorway in Rhineland-Palatinate late Saturday night. Police from the Kaiserslautern Autobahn station reported the incident occurred around 11:00 PM, heading in the direction of Saarbrücken, just before the Kaiserslautern-Ost junction.
The collision involved an Audi S8 and a Volkswagen Golf, with both vehicles subsequently catching fire. All three occupants of the Golf tragically died at the scene. The driver of the Audi, a 46-year-old man, survived with injuries.
The motorway was completely closed for several hours as emergency services worked to clear the wreckage and investigate the cause of the accident. The closure resulted in significant traffic disruptions. Authorities noted that several drivers attempted unauthorized turns on the roadway, increasing the risk of further incidents. Police are appealing to witnesses who may have information about the vehicles involved or their driving behavior to come forward and assist with the investigation.
