Reports indicate that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have commenced a ground operation within Gaza City, marking a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict. Israeli media outlets are reporting the entry of tanks into the city’s central areas, following a period of intense aerial bombardment.
The operation follows days of warnings and preparations, with Defense Minister Yoav Gallant stating the IDF will pursue “terrorist infrastructure” in Gaza with “an iron fist”. Gallant posted on social media, declaring “Gaza is burning” and affirming a commitment to continue operations until their objectives are met.
According to IDF estimates, over 350,000 Palestinian civilians have evacuated Gaza City in recent days, relocating to other areas within the Gaza Strip.
