Germany’s Inflation Slips to 1.9% in February 2026, Core Rate Remains at 2.5%

Germany’s annual consumer‑price increase slowed again in February 2026. The Federal Statistical Office announced an inflation rate of 1.9 percent, down from 2.1 percent in January. Compared with the previous month, prices rose 0.2 percent.

Excluding food and energy, core inflation remains higher, at about 2.5 percent, well above the headline figure.

Energy prices fell 1.9 percent compared with the same month last year, while food costs rose 1.1 percent. Service prices, on the other hand, increased by 3.2 percent.
