Diesel Hits New All-Time High as Gas Prices Lag Amid Rate Stability Concerns

Even a week after its implementation, the new fuel station regulation has shown no noticeable effect on the development of gasoline prices. According to an ADAC spokesperson speaking to the dts news agency on Wednesday, the average price for a liter of diesel across Germany was €2.447 on Tuesday. This represents an increase of 13.1 cents compared to the previous week, marking another all-time high. The cost of Super E10 increased by 8.1 cents to an average of €2.188 per liter, keeping the gasoline price just below its previous record level. Since last Wednesday, Germany has been implementing the “Austria Model” which stipulates that gas stations may only raise prices once daily at noon. However, price reductions remain possible at any time. It remains to be seen how the ceasefire in the Middle East will influence fuel prices, although the oil price already dropped significantly on Wednesday morning, according to initial market reactions.
