SPD Vice Leader Urges Coalition for Immediate Fuel Relief Package

Before the coalition committee announced its negotiation results, Esra Limbacher, the deputy faction chairwoman of the SPD, called for relief measures due to high fuel prices. Speaking to RTL and ntv, Limbacher stated, “We don’t need more slogans of perseverance; what we need are decisions that I expect from the government and from the coalition”. She acknowledged that any relief measures coming out would be very late. “Somewhere, they should have acted faster”. She noted that the changes to antitrust law, for instance, were clearly insufficient. Limbacher praised SPD leader and Finance Minister Lars Klingbeil, adding that he was right to push for short-term relief measures. She emphasized that many people in rural areas are dependent on cars and are currently struggling financially.
