The deficit within the statutory long-term care insurance is projected to be significantly larger next year than previously anticipated. According to reports from the “Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung”, the gap between income and expenditure is not the six billion euros initially stated by Federal Health Minister Nina Warken (CDU). In reality, the shortfall exceeds €7.5 billion. During the presentation of the planned law for reorganizing long-term care insurance (PNOG), Minister Warken informed the state health ministers of these figures. Furthermore, the minister now expects the deficit to surpass €15 billion by 2028.
