In a severe traffic accident that occurred on a country road between Kaltensundheim and Aschenhausen in Thuringia on Monday afternoon, four people lost their lives. According to police reports, the occupants of the car were a 20-year-old driver, her 25-year-old passenger, and two children, both about one and a half years old.
The young female driver drifted into the oncoming lane due to reasons that are still undetermined, where she collided head-on with an approaching truck. Although the 63-year-old truck driver attempted to swerve and avoid the impact, he was unable to prevent the collision. All four occupants of the passenger car were trapped within the vehicle and died at the scene from their critical injuries.
A forensic expert was brought in to reconstruct how the accident happened. As a result of the investigation, the country road remained completely closed for more than four hours.
