Federal Digital Minister Karsten Wildberger (CDU) is defending the use of Artificial Intelligence as a modern working tool for drafting speeches within his ministry. Speaking during the RTL program “Nachtjournal Spezial” on Friday, Wildberger detailed the safeguards in place. He explained that clear rules are in effect: the ideas, thoughts, content, and structure must originate from a human. The process is iterative, and, most importantly, a human always reviews the output and remains fully responsible for it, a standard that applies to him personally.
While he did not rule out a requirement to identify AI-generated content, stating that this aspect is “debatable,” Wildberger also advocated for a broader public discussion concerning the use of sources and aids. He emphasized the fundamental issue: whether the information being discussed and the sources being utilized are adequately substantiated.
Looking ahead, the Minister hinted at possible guidelines for AI deployment across the Federal Government. He suggested that an initial draft could be prepared, and invited input from other ministries regarding what might form the basis of these guidelines.
