FC Bayern Munich kicked off the new Bundesliga season by defeating VfB Stuttgart with a score of 5-1 on Friday evening. The Stuttgart players started aggressively and had good opportunities early on. In the 12th minute, Tiago Tomas hit the crossbar, and four minutes later, Michael Olise struck the aluminum with a free-kick. Bayern eventually took the lead when Dayot Upamecano headed in a corner from Joshua Kimmich in the 21st minute, making it 1-0.
After the break, Stuttgart initially came back. Josha Vagnoman leveled the score in the 52nd minute. However, the reigning champions responded almost immediately. Michael Olise put the German champions back in the lead in the 55th minute. Just two minutes later, Bayern extended their advantage to 3-1. It was Vagnoman who scored from a flat delivery by Alphonso Davies, after a failed clearance by the defense (57th minute). Subsequently, Olise netted another goal, though VAR ruled it disallowed due to a marginal offside position.
Bayern ultimately solidified their lead during the closing stages. Aleksandar Pavlovic made it 4-1 in the 82nd minute, following groundwork laid by substituted player Ismael Saibari. Luis Diaz secured the final scoreline with a swift attack in added time (90+2).
