Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that at least 27 people were killed during a Russian drone attack on an ammunition depot near the capital, Kyiv. The attack, which occurred on Saturday, caused a massive fire and multiple explosions in the village of Myla, located in the Butscha district. This incident left significant damage to the surrounding infrastructure, including residential buildings and a facility for the elderly and disabled. Over 370 people have since been evacuated, and the evacuation efforts are still ongoing.
Authorities have launched investigations into the matter, focusing on the suspicion that illegal explosive material was being stored on the premises, and whether the company possessed all the necessary permits. Meanwhile, Ukrainian Prime Minister Serhiy Korjezky criticized the situation, noting that sufficiently serious lessons had not been learned from a previous deadly attack near Kyiv in Vyshneve.
The night also saw attacks across other regions of Ukraine, including Odesa, Dnipro, Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, Kherson, Kharkiv, Mykolaiv, Donetsk, and Chernihiv. Over 260 drones, including Banderol drones, were utilized in these assaults. Kyiv is under nearly continuous bombardment from jet-powered drones. In response, Ukraine continues to call for international assistance to defend itself against these attacks.
