A major police operation was initiated in Aarau, in the Swiss canton of Aargau, following reports that shots were fired at a crowd at a horse racing venue during the night. According to police statements, there are “multiple victims,” although it remains unclear whether any fatalities have occurred.
The incident took place while the techno festival “Aarau Rave VOL. 7” was running on the horse racing track. The area was widely sealed off by the fire department.
The police are currently in a search mode, urging anyone who possesses videos or photographs of the event to provide them to the authorities. Multiple rescue services, in addition to the Canton Police and the Fire Department, were deployed to the scene. The Canton of Aargau’s Disaster Response Element was also activated.
As the situation remained chaotic in the early morning, the police initially emphasized that further information would follow. Residents have been asked to avoid the affected area.
