The Social Democratic Party (SPD) believes it is on the rise during the campaign for the state election in Saxony-Anhalt. General Secretary Tim Klüssendorf views the recent polling figures as a strong indication of an effective election campaign for the party.
“A few weeks ago, discussions were still ongoing about whether we would even manage to clear the five-percent threshold, and now we are at nine percent. That is a signal that we have accomplished our tasks over the past few weeks,” Klüssendorf told the broadcasters RTL and ntv. However, he was careful not to claim an outright success, stressing that the final election results must first be awaited over the weekend. He added that everything would depend on the consequences that follow the final vote count.
Klüssendorf attributed this increase to the hard work of party members on the ground, as well as support coming from across the entire federal territory. He described the campaign as being managed exceptionally well, suggesting that local members could be proud of having given their absolute all.
