According to a recent poll conducted by Infratest for Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, the Social Democratic Party (SPD) has significantly narrowed the gap with the AfD (Alternative for Germany). The survey, commissioned by NDR, shows that the Social Democrats now hold 32 percent (+3), trailing the AfD by only three points (-1). This is a substantial improvement compared to a year ago, when the difference was nearly 20 points.
Meanwhile, the CDU (Christian Democratic Union) is facing a potentially historic low. With its poll rating at 8 percent (-1), the party risks achieving the worst result in its history during a state election.
The Greens are also facing doubts about their ability to enter the state parliament, as their rating remains stable at 5 percent. The BSW (Bündnis Sahra Wagenknecht) is currently hovering near the threshold required to pass the electoral hurdle with its 4 percent. Infratest did not detect any specific shift in voter sentiment. The ruling red-red coalition managed to see a slight increase in its numbers, and a coalition involving the red-red parties and the Greens remains mathematically possible.
