Nuremberg Airport Cleared After Drone Sighting and Disruption Scare

The authorities have issued an all-clear following the closure of Nuremberg Airport, which was initially restricted due to a police operation. Police reported on Tuesday afternoon that local checks determined there was no danger.

The initial disruption occurred early on Tuesday morning at the Albrecht-Dürer Airport Nürnberg, causing temporary delays in air traffic. Between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m., three pilots independently reported spotting an unidentified object during landing or take-off procedures, which was possibly a drone.

Prior to the eventual closure, officers had reported “ambiguous emergency conditions.” The affected aircraft was a scheduled passenger flight originating from Corfu, which was set to land in Nuremberg. Flight operations were initially suspended, though further details regarding the background of the incident were unclear at the time.
