Operations at the Nuremberg Airport were halted on Tuesday afternoon due to a police operation, resulting in a comprehensive shutdown of air traffic. The airport operator has reported that flights are currently suspended following an declared “air emergency.”
The disruption began earlier on Tuesday morning at the Albrecht-Dürer Airport in Nürnberg. Between 2:00 AM and 4:00 AM, three different pilots independently reported observing an object during their take-off or landing procedures, which may have been a drone. This sighting initially led to temporary disturbances in the air traffic flow.
In response to the incident, authorities mobilized, including the deployment of a police helicopter. However, the initial measures failed to verify the nature of the object that was reported, and an investigation remains ongoing. No further details regarding the situation have been released at this time.
