The Italian club officially announced the signing on Monday evening, confirming Modrić has penned a contract extending to June 2026, with an option for a further year. He will wear the number 14 shirt for the Rossoneri.
Reflecting on his time in Madrid, Modrić expressed immense satisfaction. “Looking back on everything I’ve achieved here, I am very happy, even though it is now over” he stated in an interview with Real Madrid TV. He highlighted the profound impact of the club and its supporters, noting that the affection he received will remain with him.
Modrić’s professional journey began at the age of 16 with Dinamo Zagreb. He subsequently joined Tottenham Hotspur in 2008, where he appeared in 159 matches, scoring 17 goals. His transfer to Real Madrid followed in 2012, commencing a period of remarkable success. During his 13 seasons with the Spanish giants, Modrić recorded 43 goals in 597 appearances and amassed an unmatched collection of titles, including six Champions League trophies, five Club World Cups, one Intercontinental Cup, five European Super Cups, four LaLiga titles, two Copa del Rey triumphs and five Spanish Super Cups.
