EU Nations Lift Blockade, Unlocking Billions in Aid for Ukraine

Cyprus’s presidency of the Council of the European Union announced on Wednesday that Hungary has lifted the months-long blockade concerning the planned multi-billion euro support package for Ukraine. Previously, the government of the deposed Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán had blocked the 90 billion euro loan for Ukraine. However, he conveyed the decision to Brussels a week and a half after his election loss. Furthermore, media reports indicate that Orbán has cleared the way for a new EU package that includes sanctions against Russia.
