Holstein Kiel secured its first win of the season during the 9th matchday of the 2. Bundesliga, defeating Dynamo Dresden with a score of 3-0. The team managed by coach Tim Walter got the breakthrough in the 9th minute when Giorgi Kvilitaia led the home side, rifling from a half-right position into the far corner following a pass from Phil Harres. Dresden’s goalkeeper, Grill, was still on the ball but couldn’t stop the strike.
The second half saw Jonas Therkelsen extend the lead to 2-0 in the 73rd minute. After a cross from Faride Alidou was poorly cleared by the Dresden defense, Therkelsen picked up the ball and scored with a deflected shot into the left angle. Phil Harres sealed the victory in the 85th minute, heading home from a short distance following another cross from Therkelsen. Dynamo Dresden had a chance to tie the game, but in the 63rd minute, they missed a penalty awarded during a foul. Dresden captain Hauptmann struck weakly at Kiel’s goalkeeper, Timon Weiner. Despite further efforts, the visitors could not seriously challenge the Kiel defense. This victory moves Holstein Kiel up to 13th place in the table, while Dynamo Dresden slips to 16th.
Meanwhile, Eintracht Braunschweig triumphed in the Niedersachsen Derby, beating Hannover 96 2-0. Max Marie scored the decisive goal in the 17th minute, calmly finishing a rebound from 96 goalkeeper Weinkauf. Hannover struggled to find their rhythm after conceding and remained offensively quiet. Yann Sturm confirmed the victory in stoppage time. The only setback for Eintracht was the forced substitution of Ron-Thorben Hoffmann due to injury. However, the game was interrupted for several minutes near the end after pyrotechnics appeared to have been thrown from the Hannover block toward the pitch.
Elsewhere, VfL Osnabrück achieved a clean 3-0 victory against SpVgg Greuther Fürth. Daniel Kyereh opened the scoring in the 37th minute with a precise shot into the left corner during a counter-attack. Robin Meißner increased the lead to 2-0 just two minutes later, supported by a pass from Kyereh. Ismail Badjie sealed the final result in the 75th minute, successfully driving across half the pitch after intercepting the ball and netting it.
