Link Party Calls Out Vonovia Over Canceled Meeting Amid Transparency Dispute

The meeting originally scheduled for Tuesday midday between the Left Party Chairman Luigi Pantisano and Vonovia CEO Luka Mucic has been abruptly canceled, according to the Left Party.

The cancellation was justified by Vonovia, which reportedly rejected the participation of an independent journalist, insisting instead on a private conversation behind closed doors. Pantisano accused the housing conglomerate of having “broken” a prior agreement, criticizing what he called “backroom politics.” He stated, “We do not engage in backroom politics. We are not the CDU. If the head of Germany’s largest private housing company wants to talk to us, it must do so transparently. We have nothing to hide. The corporation itself must explain why it absolutely wants to exclude the public.”

Pantisano also voiced frustration over a “tactic of stalling.” He highlighted dispute over the location of the meeting. Having initially organized a neutral venue near the Bundestag, the group had agreed to move the meeting to Vonovia’s corporate headquarters, but ultimately, the absence of an independent journalist was cited as the reason the discussion could not take place as agreed.

Adding that the invitation for an “open and transparent discussion” still stands, Pantisano concluded that the Left Party has its questions ready, and it is now Vonovia’s turn to respond.
