Minister Reiche Taps External Candidate Jan Müller to Lead Economic Ministry Department

Federal Minister of Economics, Katherina Reiche (CDU), has appointed a new head for her leadership division. According to information from the “Handelsblatt”, Jan Dietrich Müller will be taking on the role in the Ministry. Müller previously served for several years as the Communications Chief at the reinsurer Swiss Re, and the philosophy graduate recently took a break from work.

Müller succeeds Yvonne Schreiber, who had been promoted to head the division a year ago following Reiche’s inauguration, after she managed the transition for the new minister. However, Schreiber was subsequently removed from her position. Initially, Reiche’s trusted associate, Erik Voigt, who had served as Schreiber’s deputy, was slated to step up as division head, but it now appears his promotion will not proceed. Instead, an external candidate, Müller, will assume the role.
