A dispute within the private sphere is believed to have triggered the rampage in Leipzig, an incident that claimed at least two lives and left three severely injured, with two dozen others affected. While police have not yet confirmed a motive, they stated that preliminary investigations do not suggest the perpetrator was acting due to political or religious reasons.
According to reports, the man responsible for the attacks is identified as a 33-year-old household technician from Leipzig. He is reportedly married and a father, and he has also been active in the local community, working as a coach at a Leipzig boxing club, particularly for children.
The suspect is scheduled to appear before a custody judge on Tuesday. The public prosecutor’s office and police are building a case on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.
