Following a knife attack carried out at a bank on Regensburger Rennweg, specialized police forces have successfully arrested the suspect. The Oberpfalz Police Presidium confirmed the arrest on Thursday.
The arrested individual is a 20-year-old German national and sustained no injuries during the raid. Investigators currently maintain that the incident was carried out by a single perpetrator, as there is no evidence suggesting a second suspect.
Police measures at the scene continued, with the building currently being searched. According to the current investigation, the suspect severely injured a man with a knife. The victim was initially transported to a Regensburg hospital with life-threatening injuries, but tragically succumbed to his wounds.
The Regensburg Criminal Police, in coordination with the Public Prosecutor’s Office, is conducting an investigation into a completed homicide and the suspected armed robbery.
