Russia’s nuclear armed forces began a three-day nuclear weapons exercise on Tuesday. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the exercise, scheduled for May 19 to 21, 2026, aims to prepare personnel for the use of nuclear weapons under conditions of aggression threat. The participating forces include the strategic rocket troops, the Northern and Pacific Fleets, the Airborne Forces command, and elements of the Leningrad and Central Military Districts. Furthermore, Russian armed forces had already commenced a joint exercise in Belarus the day before. This joint drill involves the potential use of nuclear weapons, with tactical nuclear weapons stationed there, and is being conducted by the forces of both countries.
