FC Schalke 04 has secured the signing of Robin Gosens. The 32-year-old German international, who has earned 24 caps for his country, will initially join the club on loan from AC Florenz, although the agreement includes mechanisms for a permanent transfer.
Youri Mulder, the Director of Professional Football at Schalke 04, expressed his enthusiasm for the addition, noting that the club gains a player of high quality and a true leader for their squad. Mulder emphasized that Gosens has consistently demonstrated commitment, mental strength, and an unyielding desire to succeed throughout his stints with previous clubs and the national team. He added that Gosens brings essential qualities to the field, including passion, goal threat, and exceptional stamina-traits that are crucial for the club’s game in the Bundesliga.
Gosens welcomed the move, stating that the Schalke management had made a significant effort regarding the transfer. He felt that they clearly laid out their strategy, detailing his role and expectations, which he found completely convincing. “I am excited about this opportunity,” Gosens said. “I want to advance through performance and take on responsibility. The dynamic winger will wear the number 8 for Schalke 04. Gosens joins the club with extensive international experience, having played for FC Dordrecht and Heracles Almelo in the Netherlands, as well as for Atalanta Bergamo, Inter Milan, and AC Florenz in Serie A, and 1. FC Union Berlin. Throughout his career, he has made more than 400 league appearances and featured in the Champions League, contributing over 100 scoring events.
