Jens Spahn, the CDU faction leader, has reportedly participated in several confidential meetings organized by a network founded by the right-liberal American billionaire Peter Thiel. Spahn’s office confirmed this to the “Tagesspiegel”. This connection to the networking group, dubbed “Dialog,” had previously been linked to the former Federal Minister of Health following a data leak, a story first reported by the U.S. magazine “Wired”.
According to his office, Spahn attended the “Dialog” format at irregular intervals, including events in Ireland in 2018, Italy in 2019, Portugal in 2022, Spain in 2023, and Germany in 2024. His office did not specify whether Spahn is a formal member of the network, stating that he is unfamiliar with the term “Dialog Society.” Furthermore, Spahn’s office specified that he has never met the founder, Thiel, within the framework of this format.
Regarding the current meeting, scheduled from August 12th to 16th near Dublin, Spahn’s office reported that he was also invited, but he ultimately declined to attend. Spahn stated that he participates regularly in both national and international conferences, emphasizing the importance of exchanging various perspectives.
