Ukraine launched strikes against targets in the Russian metropolis of St. Petersburg and the surrounding Leningrad region during the night leading up to Saturday. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the primary target was the oil infrastructure in the Baltic Sea port. Additionally, he reported “successful attacks” on Kronstadt, describing it as “an important military objective.” According to Zelenskyy, these targets were located more than 850 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.
Russia confirmed the attacks, reporting that a total of 70 enemy drones were intercepted. The governor of St. Petersburg described the event as a large-scale attack, though the extent of the damage remains unclear.
