The US military has launched new strikes against Iran, according to the Central Command, which made the announcement during Wednesday night. The operation commenced at 5 PM Eastern Coast time (11 PM German time) and served as a response to the shooting down of a US Army Apache helicopter the previous day.
The mission was framed as a proportional response to what the US described as “unjustified aggression” by Iran. According to US authorities, the goal of the strikes was to “neutralize” the threat posed by Iran and ensure the safety of their personnel.
Tensions between the United States and Iran have escalated sharply in recent days. The current conflict in Iran began on February 28th between Israel and the United States, despite several negotiated ceasefires that proved to be highly fragile.
