Sahra Wagenknecht, the founder of the BSW (Blague Society/BSW), has agreed to hold preliminary talks with the AfD in Saxony-Anhalt, although she continues to reject forming a coalition with the election winner. Wagenknecht told the Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland that her previous stance remains unchanged: “Young parties should not enter a government after their first appearance in the state parliament.”
However, the former Bundestag representative accepted the AfD’s offer for exploratory discussions. She explained that the talks would focus on policy issues where the BSW and AfD share similar views. Specifically, she highlighted the need for affordable energy in Saxony-Anhalt, particularly in Leuna, suggesting that “Nord Stream must be ramped up.” Further agenda items include demanding a basic reform of public broadcasting and having Saxony-Anhalt take a stance against weapons deliveries and billion-dollar aid packages to Ukraine, thereby sending a message of peace.
While Wagenknecht stated that all these topics would be discussed with the AfD, she maintained that she excludes Ulrich Siegmund from the possibility of becoming Minister-President. She expressed a desire for a cross-party leader who represents a new political beginning, adding, “Such a proposal would have no chance unless it is acceptable to the AfD and its voters as well.”
