FC St. Pauli Secures Key Defender with Contract Extension
The Bundesliga club FC St. Pauli has announced a premature extension of the contract with central defender Hauke Wahl. The agreement, revealed on Monday, ensures the 31-year-old remains with the club beyond the 2025/26 season, solidifying his commitment to the Millerntor stadium.
Wahl joined FC St. Pauli from Holstein Kiel ahead of the 2023/24 season and was instrumental in the team’s promotion to the Bundesliga. To date, the defender has featured in 77 competitive matches for the club, including 37 in the top-flight league. Notably, he has missed just two games across two seasons.
Sporting Director Andreas Bornemann highlighted Wahl’s significance as a leader within the team. Head Coach Alexander Blessin also praised the player’s consistent reliability. Wahl himself expressed his aspiration to contribute to the club’s continued success in the Bundesliga.
