The German government is initiating direct negotiations with the Taliban-led administration in Afghanistan. According to a report in “Bild am Sonntag” confirmed by a spokesperson for the Federal Ministry of the Interior, officials are scheduled to travel to Kabul as early as October to discuss deportation procedures.
The focus of the talks centers around revising current practices for returning individuals with criminal records and those considered violent offenders. Future deportations are expected to utilize standard charter flights rather than the current system employing special flights.
Federal Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt stated to “Bild am Sonntag” that consistent deportation capabilities are essential. The direct engagement with authorities in Kabul aims to ensure the regular and consistent deportation of offenders and individuals deemed a security risk. The negotiations are intended to establish a framework for ongoing deportations.
