Bavarian Tragedy: Four-Generational Family Murdered in Strullendorf Home, Husband Suspected of Multiple Shootings.

Police in Strullendorf, a town in Upper Franconia’s Bamberg district, discovered the bodies of a four‑person family in a residential building. The district attorney’s office and the Bamberg criminal police announced the finding on Monday, but the discovery had actually been made the previous Friday evening. The apartment’s landlord had called the police because he could not reach his tenants and was concerned for their safety.

When officers opened the locked unit, they found the bodies of a 49‑year‑old woman, a 52‑year‑old man, and the two children, aged 14 and 6. Initial evidence indicates that the 52‑year‑old German man first shot his wife and the children before turning the gun on himself. He held a valid firearms licence and owned several firearms.

There are currently no indications that anyone else was involved. In addition to the criminal police, a representative of the Bamberg district attorney’s office and a forensic pathologist were present to investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
