Aston Villa secured the Europa League title after defeating SC Freiburg 3-0 in the final held in Istanbul. While Freiburg started the match strongly and generated early attacking momentum, the English side eventually found their rhythm. Freiburg’s best opportunity came in the 17th minute when Nicolas Höfler’s shot narrowly sailed past the right post.
Villa struggled to settle early on but managed to capitalize on chances shortly before the break. In the 41st minute, Youri Tielemans opened the scoring, giving the Birmingham side the lead. Before the half whistle, Emiliano Buendía further padded the score in the third minute of added time, extending the lead to 2-0.
The dynamics shifted significantly after halftime, as Freiburg struggled to break through the compact English defense. Nevertheless, Aston Villa remained dangerous and scored the decisive goal in the 58th minute when Morgan Rogers converted a low cross from Buendía, making the score 3-0.
Despite efforts from Freiburg to find a way back into the game until the end, they could not seriously challenge Aston Villa’s goalkeeper, Emiliano Martínez. Villa maintained control throughout the encounter, ending the game in their favor and remaining dominant in the final stages.
