Investigators have reportedly discovered an Islamic State (IS) confession video on the phone of Attacker Abdul B. The video, which is said to have been filmed on July 25-the day of the attack-purportedly shows B. pledging allegiance to the terrorist organization. The police initially located the phone in the vehicle used during the crime.
The attack took place on Saturday evening in Berlin’s Tiergarten, where participants of the Christopher Street Day (CSD) were celebrating. The perpetrator drove a small van into the area and subsequently attacked passersby with a machete. The violence resulted in 29 injuries, with one Polish woman killed.
The attacker was tracked down Sunday evening in an allotment garden in Spandau and was shot by police during an operation.
