Following an incident late Monday evening in Neustadt am Rübenberge near Hanover, a car deliberately drove into a group of people. Police suspect a connection to organized family groups, stating that the alleged perpetrators belong to extended families that have previously come into police contact regarding organized criminal activity. Authorities have currently stated that the ongoing incident presented no danger to the public.
The event took place around 11:30 PM on Monday. A suspect targeted a BMW, driving it directly into a group of individuals who were standing on the street at the time. Police officers who were conducting a routine traffic control noticed the incident. To stop the immediate act, they fired shots at the BMW. The driver abandoned the vehicle at the scene and fled. It is currently being investigated whether there were other people inside the car during the attack.

Immediate manhunt operations, involving a police helicopter and numerous emergency units, were initially unsuccessful. However, three individuals were located at the registered owner’s address of the vehicle and subsequently taken into custody. The extent to which these individuals are directly connected to the assault remains part of the ongoing inquiry.
Investigations into the precise sequence of events, the underlying motives, and the identity of the suspects are continuing, with the Hannover Criminal Permanent Service overseeing the case.
