Borussia Dortmund secured a 3-0 victory over SC Paderborn 07 during the third matchday of the 1. Bundesliga.
The home side took the lead early in the fifth minute. The goal stemmed from a counter-attack initiated when Dortmund defender Daniel Svensson recovered the ball in his own defensive area. Serhou Guirassy played a quick pass down the middle to Fabio Silva, who capitalized on an error by Paderborn defender Tjark Scheller. Scheller approached the ball near the halfway line but failed to intercept it, allowing Silva to run alone on the attack. From the edge of the penalty box, Silva successfully maneuvered around Paderborn goalkeeper Nahuel Noll and sent the ball into the empty net from approximately 13 meters out.
Dortmund extended their advantage in the 80th minute, thanks to Felix Nmecha. Following a combination play between substitute Maximilian Beier and Nmecha, the latter positioned himself in the half-right zone inside the box. He curled the shot into the far top corner, assisted by the left inner post. Nmecha later sealed his brace in the 89th minute, netting the 3-0 final score. This decisive goal came after Marcel Sabitzer provided a quality cross from the right side, which Nmecha finished spectacularly with a diving header into the bottom left corner.
The win temporarily lifts BVB to second place in the table, while Paderborn currently sits in 15th place.
