FC Bayern Munich has confirmed a significant injury sustained by attacking player Jamal Musiala during the Club World Cup quarterfinal match against Paris Saint-Germain in the United States.
Medical examinations conducted by the German champions have revealed a fractured fibula resulting from an ankle dislocation, the club announced on Sunday. The 22-year-old player reportedly flew from Orlando to Munich on Sunday morning and is expected to undergo surgery shortly.
“This serious injury and the resulting absence represent a real shock for Jamal and for all of us” stated Sporting Director Max Eberl. “This impacts FC Bayern. Everyone understands how incredibly important Jamal is to our game and the central role he plays in our team”. He added that the human element of the situation is particularly painful, as Musiala was recently returning from a previous injury and now faces another prolonged period of recovery.
Eberl assured that the club will provide Musiala with comprehensive support and will be closely involved in his recovery process. “He will receive everything he needs from us. We will support him intensively and be by his side” he concluded.
