The FC Bayern Munich secured their place at the top of the table after defeating SC Freiburg 3-1 away from home during the 7th matchday of the Bundesliga.
The opening goal came in the 16th minute. Bayern defender Dayot Upamecano intercepted an attempted pass from Freiburg midfielder Niklas Beste within his own penalty area. He immediately launched a counter-attack, which reached Konrad Laimer on the right flank. Laimer passed the ball to his teammate Michael Olise, and Upamecano rushed through the center of the pitch before facing Freiburg goalkeeper Mio Backhaus. He scored unchallenged to give the Bavarians the lead.
Serge Gnabry doubled the lead for Munich in the 43rd minute. After passing the ball to Nathaniel Brown on the left side, Gnabry broke into stride and received the ball from Brown in the penalty area. Gnabry subsequently scored with a flat-shot from a sharp angle, bypassing the Freiburg keeper and hitting the near post.
Tom Bischof brought the score to 2-1 in the 82nd minute via an own goal. Jordy Makengo, a Freiburg defender, managed to beat opposing player Laimer, advancing into the penalty area and passing the ball toward the five-meter mark. Bischof attempted to clear the ball but unfortunately scored into his own net.
The final goal, which sealed the 3-1 scoreline, was scored by Michael Olise in the 5th minute of injury time in the second half. Backhaus had played the ball forward from a deep position near the center circle, but it quickly returned. Olise won possession in a duel with the keeper and scored with a long-range strike from over 30 meters into the empty net.
With this victory, FC Bayern defended their top position in the standings, while SC Freiburg remains in third place.
